Why we started: building a home for people analytics
The field of people analytics has grown rapidly over the past decade, with professionals eager to connect, learn, and advance their practice.
But despite the surge in meetups and gatherings, there was a noticeable lack of consistency — content varied widely, events skewed vendor-driven, and practitioners had no central home.
SPA was founded to be that home. A vendor-neutral space where people at every level can communicate, network, and grow — shaped by the community rather than sold to by it.
How we got here: a short timeline
2023
First gathering by a group of practitioners who wanted a vendor-neutral home for the field.
2024
Founded and launched First annual conference. Local chapters launch across the US, UK, and Asia.
2025
Community crosses 5,000 members. Research publication program begins.
2026
9,000+ members across 40+ cities. Community platform on Circle.
